Graduation

Doctoral students

Doctoral students are not eligible to participate in commencement without completing all degree requirements, including the dissertation defense and submission of an approved dissertation to the Graduate School. The dissertation must be signed by all committee members and must comply with the dissertation requirements as outlined in the guide to the preparation of theses and dissertations. 不符合论文要求将延迟你的毕业.

Master’s students

Master’s students may request to participate in commencement within one semester of completing degree requirements. 申请在你完成学位要求的学期毕业, 然后提交"申请参加毕业典礼" available on our forms page. 不保证获得批准.

Degree audits are conducted during the semester for which you have applied to graduate. All grade changes, petitions of exception and transfer credits must be submitted and approved prior to this initial audit. 有关缺陷的问题应直接向项目协调员提出.

Your degree audit will then be submitted to your department for them to review program requirements. Final audits are conducted approximately two weeks after term grades have been posted, 学位在学期结束后的四到六周公布.

Master's students

  • A Petition of Exception must be filed if the degree will NOT be completed with the university’s 6-year time limit (a 2-year extension for a maximum of an 8-year total).

  • Attain format approval from the Graduate School by the deadline stated in the schedule of classes.
  • Submit for binding one copy of format approved thesis to the Graduate School by the deadline stated in the schedule of classes.

Doctoral students

   Log into your SAIL account. Click on Student Services --> Student Records --> Apply to Graduate. 输入所需的信息.

   If you need to change your graduation semester after you have applied please contact our office at 248-370-2700 or submit the 更改毕业日期 form. 你只能前进到下一个学期，不能倒退到上一个学期.

   Graduation is the completion of degree requirements as listed in the Oakland University graduate catalog. 毕业典礼是庆祝你取得成就的典礼. 参加毕业典礼并不能保证你已经毕业.
    
7. 如果我不能参加指定的毕业典礼怎么办? 
   
   Master's candidates may request to participate in a ceremony one semester early or one semester after all degree requirements have been met. They must submit the graduate 申请参加毕业典礼 available on the forms page. 
   
   Doctoral candidates 不能提前或在完成所有学位要求之前开始.

   You should allow 4-6 weeks after the end of the semester for the completion of the audit process and degree to post to your record.

   You will receive your diploma at your home approximately 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester. 文凭是直接从印刷厂寄来的.

    The Graduate School can provide a degree candidate letter that states you are a candidate for degree if all requirements are met after the semester ends. 学期结束后，学位公布前, 如果满足所有学位要求, 研究生院可以提供学位确认函.
